CIRI announces members of External Advisory Board
The Critical Infrastructure Resilience Institute (CIRI), a Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Center of Excellence, has formed an external advisory board, which will assist with the successful management of the Institute and its research, technology transition, and education and workforce development missions.
The board is comprised of 22 senior representatives of the principal stakeholders in the Institute's mission, including representatives from critical infrastructure operations and emergency-response organizations; scientists from academic institutions, national laboratories, and private industry; and administrators from homeland security agencies and other government agencies.
The members will provide guidance and help support CIRI's mission of research and development to strengthen the security and resilience of the nation's critical infrastructure. Specially, they will advise on CIRI's performance and strategic direction, as well as foster relationships with stakeholders in government, laboratories, and industry.
Much of our nation's critical infrastructure is owned and operated by private entities, and it's critical that we all work together in a public-private partnership to develop and transition solutions with real-world impact, said CIRI Interim Director Jeff Binder, who is also director of Illinois' Applied Research Institute. The Advisory Board will help us identify the most important challenges we face as a country and help us connect industry, government, and academia to address these challenges.
