Security Monitoring Evaluation Tool

The security monitoring evaluation tool performs analysis of the security monitoring strategy deployed by a utility and produces an overall evaluation regarding the completeness of the strategy. It requires the user to provide a model of their system – including the devices, software platforms, and networks – along with their monitoring tools deployed (e.g., Windows logs, Netflow, Bro). The tool then returns a quantitative score for the strategy.

The security monitoring evaluation tool contributes to the cybersecurity of EDS by offering utilities a way to ensure that their technologies are sufficiently capable of detecting malicious activity. The tool could be used by energy utilities (oil, gas, electric) and energy delivery industries to test their networks, as well as by vendors who want to evaluate security capabilities of the various devices they provide to EDS industries.
