This project is working to identify component connections within industrial control processes for various infrastructure types. The work is expanding and improving the nation’s capability to identify and understand the cascading physical impacts of a cyber attack on an industrial control system (ICS) network. Data points at both a general and industry-specific level will be identified in order to calculate and mediate functional consequences. The consequences will be applied across the component, system, industry, and dependent infrastructures. Elements of the project include identification of relevant infrastructure type(s) and associated complexity of processes; mapping of component connections and functions for selected infrastructure types; and identification of potential data points that can be addressed at a connection level either generically or in an infrastructure-specific manner.
