Richard Macwan is a Research Engineer - Power at the Information Trust Institute and is currently involved in the research on variety of topics from effects of geomagnetic disturbance on power systems to electrical load modeling, and cyber physical security for power distribution systems. His research interests include power system modeling and analysis, energy efficiency initiatives, smart grid initiatives, cyber-physical security of power grids and power system economics. He has previously worked as a Research Assistant at Polytechnic Institute of New York University at New York where he was involved in analyzing the economic impacts of voltage optimization programs on New York City’s electric utility and customers. He has also worked as Assistant Manager – Electrical Engineering at Essar Engineering Services Ltd., India and was involved in the design and analysis of industrial power systems for refinery and chemical plants. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering (2008) from Gujarat University, India and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (2012) from Polytechnic Institute of New York University, New York.
