Prof. Alleyne has developed a research program that strongly integrates control theory and practical implementation. The theoretical focus is on learning systems, optimal systems and nonlinear systems. The span of applications include energy/power, manufacturing, transportation and agriculture. He employs model-based methods that exploit physical characteristics of the systems under control to best optimize for both performance and robustness. In addition to controller design and implementation, his efforts include development of simulation tools to aid in the model-based design.
